The EcoHero Show

We proudly sponsor the EcoHero Show for K-6 students at Escondido Elementary School, Lucille M. Nixon Elementary School, Lexington Elementary School, Rucker Elementary School, and San Martín/Gwinn Environmental Science Academy in the unincorporated area. This effort is funded by the Beverage Container Recycling City/County Payment Program administered by CalRecycle.

The show revolves around music, movement and singing to engage students in a way they’ll remember long after the show. Each song has a call and response section for students to sing and a dance for them to follow. The presenter dives deep into environmental topics such as stormwater pollution prevention and litter reduction, and explains what the problems are and how students at home and at school can make a difference. The show also incorporates trivia and storytelling in between the songs to drive the topics home.

In FY 22-23, the EcoHero Show completed 8 classroom presentations, reaching approximately 196 students from the four schools. These presentations provided a unique engaging educational experience and received possible feedback from students and teachers.

Our Water Our World

Our Water Our World is an award-winning partnership between city and county-based water pollution prevention agencies, garden centers, and hardware stores that sell pest control products. The program focuses on promoting the use of less-toxic, eco-friendly products and techniques, because many common pesticides are harmful to sensitive species and ecosystems when they reach local creeks, bays, and the ocean. The Watershed Protection Division participates in the Our Water Our World partnership through SCVURPPP.

When you visit a participating local hardware store or nursery, be sure to look for the tag below. This tag tells you the products you buy are safer for your family and pets, and the environment.
